VIDEO SWING NIGHT

Dance as the music comes alive on the big screen!  Experience the next best thing to a live performance by the greats!  The first-ever Video Swing Night happens Saturday September 5th at the Dance Factory in Tampa.  This night has been in the works for years, and we finally have a venue that can host it!  Swing Dance Social 8-11pm.  Tickets $12; purchase at the door (cash or card).  All ages are welcome.

Collegiate Shag Workshop
Saturday September 5th

We're highlighting Collegiate Shag this month at the Dance Factory, with a 3-hour workshop taught by Andrea Phoenix, followed by social swing dancing 8-11pm where all styles of swing dancing will be on display!  This workshop is for beginning to intermediate-level Shag dancers and consists of three classes with breaks in between.  Just $30 gets you into the workshop plus the dance.  Purchase tickets at the door (cash or card).  No partners are needed and all ages are welcome.

Collegiate Shag is the most popular dance from the swing era, so it's about time we brought it to Tampa Bay!  Worldwide, today's swing dancers have resurrected Collegiate Shag, dancing it alongside Lindy Hop, Balboa, and East-Coast Swing.  In fact, it has the same slow-slow-quick-quick rhythm as East-Coast Swing, albeit with a lot more energy in the footwork!  Expand your swing/dancing repertoire by dancing Collegiate Shag.

Instructor, Andrea Phoenix, has been dancing Collegiate Shag the last two decades.  She's competed at Camp Hollywood in shag and loves to find it on the social dance floor.  She has a strong love for jazz movement and partner dance technique, and is an expert swing dancer accomplished in Balboa, Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, and more.  She encourages everyone to come see what shag is all about!

The Dance Factory is a beautiful and spacious event venue with great atmosphere, located at 203 Westshore Plaza, Tampa, FL 33609.  Park and enter next to Maggiano's; once inside take your first right and walk to the end to find The Dance Factory.
